Single Vision lenses

Single vision lenses have the same power over the whole lens.

All Nikon single vision lenses have a special aspheric design for sharp clear vision with limited peripheral distortion. Translated, it simply means it uses a flat design to give you sharper vision without the blurriness on the sides which is commonly found in lenses.

Some description

Benefits of aspheric lenses are thin, flat and light compared to its spherical cousins.

Multifocal Lenses

single lens vs multifocal lensAs we age naturally, our ability to see objects close up and far away will deteriorate. Good news is that luckily we no longer need to juggle multiple pairs of glasses to help us see when we’re out and about.

Nowadays one pair can do the job. Brilliantly too.

Multifocal lenses offer a smooth transition from distance to intermediate to near vision and offers the most natural vision correction in one single lens. An added plus is there is no visible line separating the distance and the reading which makes for an overall younger look.

There is an array of multifocal lens on the market and they are
NOT
all the same
.  Some progressive lens are cheaper than others, some are more comfortable than others, some give you wider reading areas, some give you wider distance areas, some fit better in small frames, some fit better in large frames. Some are good all-round lenses; some solve work specific situations better, etc. so it’s best to find one that suits your preferences and lifestyle the most.

Come in and put our lens experts to work. We’re always here to help.

Lens bar

Once you have selected the type of lens you need, we welcome you to the lens bar – where we can serve up a concoction to your needs.

Lens coatings can enhance the performance and appearance of your glasses so is just as important as selecting the perfect frame and lenses.

Here are some extras you can add onto your lenses for extra protection.

Some descriptionTransitions lenses are the best selling photochromatic lenses in the world.

They protect our eyes from the sun's rays by quickly adjusting & adapting in changing light for better eyesight. They darken on exposure to specific types of light, most commonly UV light. Once the light source is removed, the lenses will gradually return clear.

Transitions lenses can help protect the eyes from UV rays, glare and eye fatigue.

With ordinary clear lenses our eyes have to constantly adjust to changing light.  Our pupils dilate and the eyes squint.  It doesn’t seem like much, but over the course of the day it can all add up to cause eyestrain and fatigue.

Transitions lenses filter the light so they don’t have to work as hard, allowing the eyes to stay relaxed and comfortable all day long.

In January 2014, Transitions Signature VII was launched as the latest transitions lens and provides outstanding outdoor performance without comprising on indoor clarity.

Another beneficial lens treatment is an invisible dye that blocks ultra violet (UV) light.

Just as sunscreen keeps the sun's UV rays from harming our skin, UV-protective treatments for lenses block those same rays from damaging our eyes.

Overexposure to ultraviolet light is thought to be a cause of cataracts, retinal damage and other eye problems.

Whist regular lenses block most UV light, adding a UV-blocking dye boosts UV protection to 100 percent for added safety. We like the sound of that.

Anti reflective coating is a type of coating applied to the surface of lenses and other optical devices to reduce reflection.

An added benefit is improvement in the clarity of vision and also acts to protect the lenses from scratches.

Some descriptionPolarised lenses have a filter that reduces the amount of reflected light that enters the eyes.

This filter eliminates the horizontally reflected glare that is most noticeable on water, snow, concrete and asphalt surfaces.

Regular sunglasses only reduce the amount of light that is transmitted through the lens horizontally and vertically. Polarized lenses are the only way to eliminate the glare while still blocking the harmful UV rays that traditional sunglasses block.

Polarised lenses selectively eliminate the harsh glare coming from above surfaces such as water, snow or windscreen.

Hence polarized lenses are great for outdoor enthusiasts such as photographers, fisherman, golfers and people who lead active lifestyles.

Nikon SeeCoat Blue

If you spend a lot of your waking hours staring into a screen, this coating is for you.

Nowadays, we switch from various digital devices from smart phones to laptops to tablets to keep up with our busy lives.

Digital screens often emit an intense blue light and after long exposure can cause eye strain.

Common causes of digital eye strains include spending long periods on computer and mobile devices and bright display screens.

Nikons SeeCoat Blue coating helps to improve contrast and reduce eyestrain by cutting out and reflecting blue light resulting to better vision.

This coating is a purple-pink coat on the front of the lens which is a blue light filter. Blue light is emitted from mobile devices and computers and at certain wavelengths can damage retinal cells. Provencia coating is able to filter out harmful UV & blue violet light. There are bands of blue light called the body clock blue light which are good for us as they regulate our body and Provencia coating allows this friendly blue light to pass through. It also helps reduce the risk of cataracts and age related macular degeneration and also has Eye Sun Protection Factor (ESPF) of 25.

This lens is suitable if you work night shift, use a lot of electronic devices and want superior eye protection.
